Start a project
Write to hello@marcomori.net with what you are making, when it airs and who approves it, and you will normally get an answer within one or two business days. I am based in Lindau at Lake Constance in Germany, work in Central European Time and with clients worldwide, in English or German. If a project is not a good fit I will say so rather than stretch to make it one.
What should you put in a first message?
The fastest route to a useful answer is short and specific. Five things:
- What you are making. A product film, a campaign, a music video, a set of FX shots inside someone else's production.
- When it airs. The real date, not the internal one. Everything else scales around it.
- What exists already. CAD, brand assets, footage, boards, a treatment, a previous campaign to match.
- Deliverables. Durations, aspect ratios, how many cutdowns, whether stills are needed.
- Who approves. How many people sit between the brief and the sign-off. This changes schedules more than the creative does.
A budget range is welcome but optional. If you include one, you will get a scoped answer instead of a general one.
Where are you and how does that work practically?
Lindau at Lake Constance, in southern Germany, Central European Time. Clients are worldwide and most projects run remotely: files, calls and reviews. The timezone covers the full European working day and reaches the North American morning, which in practice means one review call a day is always possible with US teams and rarely more than that is needed.
German and English both work, including for briefs, calls and documentation.
How does a project actually start?
- You write. The five points above, in whatever form is easiest.
- I reply within one to two business days, with either an initial scope or the questions that would change it.
- A short call if the project is complex enough to need one. Many are not.
- A written scope: deliverables, stages, schedule, and what I need from you and when.
- Contract and NDA, then a start date.
If the scope does not fit the budget, that surfaces at step four rather than halfway through production.
What do you not take on?
In those cases a studio is the honest recommendation, and the reasoning is set out in freelance 3D artist vs animation studio.
Which service does your project fall under?
- 3D product animation, product films, visualization, campaign stills.
- CGI commercials, concept to grade, brands and agencies.
- Mixed reality production, filmed footage plus 3D, and live show visuals.
- Houdini FX, simulation, procedural systems, FX shots inside your production.
If it fits none of them cleanly, write anyway. Some of the best projects started that way.

Frequently asked questions
How do I get in touch?
By email to hello@marcomori.net. That is the direct route and it reaches me rather than an inbox someone else reads.
How quickly do you reply?
Usually within one to two business days. If I am mid-delivery on a project it can be slower, and I will say so rather than leave you guessing.
What should a first message contain?
What you are making, when it airs, roughly what scope you have in mind, and who approves the work. Those four answers are enough for a realistic first reply.
Do I need to have a budget figure ready?
Not an exact one, but a range helps. It lets me tell you immediately whether the idea fits it, and if it does not, which part of the scope to change.
Do you work with agencies as well as brands?
Yes. With agencies I usually deliver the 3D against approved boards; with brands I often take the creative direction too.
Which languages do you work in?
English and German, both fluently. Projects run in whichever the client prefers.
What timezone are you in?
Central European Time, in Lindau at Lake Constance, Germany. That overlaps with the whole European workday and with mornings in North America.
Do you sign NDAs?
Yes, routinely. Unreleased products and unannounced campaigns are the normal case, and nothing gets published until you clear it.
What if my project is not a good fit?
I will tell you directly, and where I can I will point you towards someone in my network who fits better. A wrong-fit project helps neither of us.
